Band Saw Blade Welder

A band saw is a complex saw which is used in cutting of timber, metal etc. Band saw runs on wheels and continuously revolves with teeth surface along one edge to cut either timber or metal. Band saw blade welder is most commonly used in cutting timber and the blade is generally made up of steel. The saw rotates along the wheel continuously and these wheels are located at one place, band saw cuts and rips the object with accuracy. The saw is powered by electricity, water, wind, steam, motor etc. In olden days, the band saw was powered by animal labor since technology at that time did not exist. The origin of band saw goes way back to early 1800’s but then it was crude and enough power was needed to withhold the pressure which was put on the blade while cutting.

While cutting the material, the blades go through a considerable amount of strain especially at the curves of its teeth at the edge. The strain put on the blade results in the expansion and the contraction of the blade which the friction creates. This results in altering the structure of the steel and leads to the breakage of it. The welding companies while making the saw blades keep the body soft whereas the edge and the teeth hard so that blade withholds the pressure and less breakage prevails. Band saw blade welder steel is made up of alloyed steel and a little to mild greasing of teeth is advised for better performance. The blades of a band saw differ in shapes and sizes, the teeth of the blade should be short and dense if the wood is hard or if used for metal cutting and long and more in inches to cut soft wood or material.

The joineries and companies dealing with band saw prefer the blade to be elastic without being hard to prevent breaking, smooth and uniform teeth should be the first priority while making a band saw blade. The preferred sizes of band saw blade welder ranges from about 4 inches wide to 16 inches, 19 inches long to 62 inches. To avoid the breakage of the blades lubricating them with a little grease has been proven helpful. Too soft or too hard blades are always useless and it requires a great amount of accuracy to design the saw blades so that they can be used for a long run.

Saw blades are designed keeping mind the particular task it will perform; it will either cut timber or metal. The blades used for metal cutting and wood cutting are different, wood cutting saws are circular with a pivot in the middle and revolving continuously whereas the metal cutting blades are horizontal. While operating the band saw blade welder one needs to take precautions, bringing a child in the vicinity of the machine should be strictly avoided and if the blades breaks there are chances they may fly in different directions it is advised to lie on the ground immediately when something like this happens.
